The UNEP Country Office in Brazil collaborates with the Brazilian government and various institutions to promote sustainability and inclusivity, aiming to foster a new relationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at UNEP Brazil Country Office is designed to provide support in various communication activities related to the implementation of COP 30 and other initiatives of the Brazil Office. Interns will work under the direct supervision of the Brazil Office Representative and the Communication Focal Point, contributing to the overall mission of UNEP by engaging in strategic communications planning and enhancing the visibility of the organization. The role involves maintaining and updating the UNEP Brazil website and social media platforms, preparing reports and project documents, and assisting in media relations to promote positive news coverage. Interns will also be involved in drafting documents, organizing workshops, and translating materials, thereby gaining valuable experience in international environmental communication and policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: engaging in strategic communications planning to support UNEP's mission; maintaining and updating the UNEP Brazil website and social media; collecting background information for reports and project documents; managing the office's mailing list; supporting media relations; assisting in the organization of publications and data; gathering information for the Office Representative; preparing drafts of documents and reports; developing graphic materials and editing audio-visual content; organizing workshops and seminars; translating documents between English and Portuguese; drafting routine correspondence; and performing other clerical tasks as required. Interns are expected to work full-time, five days a week, under the supervision of a staff member.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a Master's Degree program or in the final year of a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertisement, Marketing, Languages, Translation, Fine Arts, or International Relations; or have graduated with a university degree in one of these fields. Additionally, candidates must be computer literate in standard software applications (MS Office), demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a degree in Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertisement, Marketing, Languages, Translation, Fine Arts, International Relations, or any relevant communication field. This ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to contribute effectively to the communication efforts of UNEP.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in environmental issues and the work of the United Nations. Experience in communication, media, or related fields is beneficial and will enhance the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the internship effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Portuguese is required for this internship. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication capabilities within the diverse environment of the United Nations.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week for a duration of six months. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. It is important for candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents of Brazil to discuss visa requirements prior to accepting the internship offer. The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
