Job Overview: The intern will be an integral part of the Communications, Innovation and Partnerships team at UNDP China, working under the guidance of the Innovation and Communications Officer. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about communications and innovation in the development sector. The intern will be responsible for producing various video and design products, including short videos for social media and project wrap-up videos. The role requires creativity and the ability to engage with both English and Chinese audiences. The intern will also support live-streaming events, manage social media content, and assist in drafting communications reports. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact multimedia campaigns and to engage with critical development issues through innovative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will carry out a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: producing video content for social media and project campaigns, supporting video shooting and photography for offline events, organizing and maintaining UNDP China's video/photo library, managing live-streaming for events, drafting content for social media platforms such as Weibo and WeChat, creating media summaries and communications reports, and assisting with ad hoc tasks as requested by the supervisor. The intern will be expected to demonstrate creativity and initiative in all communications work, ensuring that the outputs align with UNDP's mission and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong commitment to the mission and values of the United Nations. Relevant experience in video editing, design, media events, or social media campaigns is essential. The ideal candidate should have a good sense of modern video and design styles, with the ability to create simple motion graphics and effects. Proficiency in video/design tools such as Premiere, Final Cut, and Microsoft Office is required. The intern should be proactive, organized, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese. A willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies is also important.
Educational Background: Candidates should be majoring in video editing, film, communications, journalism, or other relevant fields. Educational requirements include being enrolled in a Master's or PhD program, being in the final year of a Bachelor's program, or having graduated within the last year from a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program. Alternatively, candidates may be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Having overseas study experience is considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant and independent work experience in video editing, video shooting, design, media events, or social media campaigns. This experience can be gained through internships, academic projects, or previous employment in related fields. The intern should be able to demonstrate a portfolio of previous work that showcases their skills and creativity in video production and design.
Languages: Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English and Chinese is mandatory. Candidates with additional skills applicable to online and offline communications, such as graphic design or photo editing, will have an advantage. The ability to understand and meet video requirements in English is also essential for this role.
Additional Notes: The internship conditions stipulate that interns must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan and a medical certificate of good health before starting the internship. Interns will receive a monthly stipend and are entitled to 1.5 days of leave per month. They are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station. All costs related to travel, visas, accommodations, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution. Interns must not apply for or be appointed to a position that should be filled by a staff member during their internship.
