Job Overview: The National Consultant will support the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) in developing abridged, user-friendly booklets summarizing the Revised National Gender Policy and the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) Strategy. The consultant's work will enhance awareness and understanding of gender-responsive policies and strategies in agriculture and food systems, promoting rural women's economic empowerment. The booklets will serve as strategic communication tools, clarifying stakeholder roles and responsibilities, and fostering collaboration across sectors. The consultant will be responsible for conducting document reviews, developing content, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring the final products are accessible and visually appealing.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will conduct a comprehensive review of relevant documents, develop concise and accessible content for the booklets, engage key stakeholders for feedback, and present draft versions for validation. Responsibilities include documenting insights from stakeholder engagements, finalizing the booklets with professional design, and preparing additional materials such as an executive summary and PowerPoint presentation. The consultant will also collaborate with a graphic designer to ensure the booklets are visually engaging and aligned with UN Women branding guidelines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in gender studies, communication studies, social sciences, agriculture, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in consultancy work related to gender mainstreaming and strategic development is required. Candidates should demonstrate proven experience in summarizing and translating policies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to produce high-quality communication materials.
Educational Background: A master's degree in gender studies, linguistic and communication studies, social sciences, agriculture, development studies, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in consultancy work related to gender mainstreaming and strategic development, with a strong focus on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. Experience in summarizing and translating policies and strategies for diverse audiences is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Kinyarwanda is mandatory for this position.
Additional Notes: This is a home-based consultancy with no travel required. The consultant will be supervised by the UN Women Country Representative and will receive technical guidance from the Women’s Economic Empowerment Thematic Area of UN Women Rwanda Country Office and MIGEPROF. Regular briefings and coordination meetings will be held to monitor progress and ensure alignment with national priorities.
