This position involves direct engagement with communities and beneficiaries in targeted locations, ensuring that project activities are executed effectively according to NRC's project cycle management. The LFS PA will work under the guidance of the project team leader and Field Office coordinator, focusing on beneficiary mobilization, project setup, and the delivery of project activities. The role encompasses both administrative and program support functions, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and adherence to NRC policies and guidelines. The LFS PA will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and facilitating communication between various stakeholders involved in the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Livelihoods and Food Security Project Assistant include a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of the program. Key responsibilities include:
Adhering to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines while assisting with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to the plan of action.
Preparing and developing status reports as required by management and ensuring proper filing of documents.
Promoting and sharing ideas for improvement in the area of Livelihoods and Food Security.
Preparing payment requests in Aggresso and liaising with logistics to support stock requisition of materials for project activities.
Supporting the preparation of contract documents and verification certificates for incentive workers and partners.
Ensuring correct data capture procedures during monitoring activities and administering payments in compliance with NRC policy.
Participating in beneficiary selection for livelihoods and food security programs and reporting any challenges to the LFS team leader.
Maintaining clear records of beneficiaries and activities, including regular visits to beneficiaries' homes or businesses.
Leading the implementation of the WFP relief project and managing casual staff. 1
Participating in baseline data collection, field monitoring, and conducting interviews with beneficiaries. 1
Organizing awareness sessions on nutrition, food security, and WASH for beneficiaries and host communities. 1
Representing NRC in community meetings and coordinating with other project assistants to document LFS activities. 1
Reporting any concerns that threaten the smooth operation of the program and advising on possible actions. 1
Supporting the preparation of project reports and updates for ongoing activities. 1

Required Qualifications: The position requires a set of qualifications that ensure the candidate is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of previous experience in food security and livelihoods projects with NGOs or UN organizations in South Central Somalia. Educational Background: Candidates for the Livelihoods and Food Security Project Assistant position should hold a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of livelihoods and food security programming, particularly in a humanitarian context. The degree should be complemented by relevant coursework or training that enhances the candidate's ability to engage effectively with communities and implement project activities.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Cash Transfer Programming (CTP), food security, and livelihoods programs specifically in Somalia.
