Job Posting Organization:
Mission Action by Churches Together (ACT Alliance) is a coalition of over 148 churches and church-related organizations that work collaboratively in more than 128 countries. The organization is dedicated to creating positive and sustainable changes in the lives of marginalized and impoverished individuals, irrespective of their religion, politics, gender, race, or nationality. ACT Alliance operates with a faith-motivated, rights-based, and impact-focused approach, emphasizing ecumenical and inter-religious collaboration. The organization aims to empower communities by enabling them to take charge of their development and relief efforts, thereby ensuring that no one is left behind. ACT Alliance's mission is to promote a just, inclusive, and sustainable world through effective humanitarian, development, and advocacy work at various levels, ultimately saving lives and enhancing the rights of those whose rights are often overlooked.

Job Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to create 15 compelling and faith-sensitive key messages regarding gender justice, specifically targeting external audiences, particularly religious leaders and communities in Latin America and the Caribbean (ALC). These messages must align with international human rights frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), UN guidelines on gender equality, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality. The messages should be crafted in a way that resonates with various religious traditions in the region, inspiring action and advocacy among religious leaders and communities to address gender inequalities and violence affecting women and girls. Additionally, the messages must be optimized for professional platforms like LinkedIn to engage a broader audience of religious leaders, civil society organizations, policymakers, and professionals working in gender justice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough document review of international conventions on women's rights, including CEDAW, UN guidelines on gender equality and women's empowerment, the 2030 Agenda, and the goals and indicators of SDG 5, as well as existing materials on gender justice and faith-based advocacy in ALC.
  • Identify faith-based entry points for addressing gender justice, such as teachings on equality, compassion, dignity, and justice.
  • Develop 15 key messages that are concise, impactful, and culturally relevant, utilizing inclusive and non-confrontational language. These messages should highlight the role of religious leaders and communities in promoting gender justice and address specific gender justice issues in ALC, such as gender-based violence, economic inequality, access to education, and reproductive rights, while explicitly aligning with international frameworks like CEDAW, UN guidelines, and the 2030 Agenda.
  • Collaborate with a designer to create visual materials by providing clear guidance on tone, style, and visual elements that align with the campaign's objectives. Ensure that the messages are presented in a visually appealing and accessible format, and review and provide feedback on the designer's drafts to ensure alignment with the key messages and religious context.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and impactful messages. A deep understanding of gender justice issues, particularly in the context of faith communities, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage with diverse religious traditions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively with others, including designers and stakeholders in the faith community.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, gender studies, international development, theology, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of international human rights frameworks and gender justice issues, particularly as they relate to faith-based advocacy.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in advocacy, communications, or related fields, particularly in contexts involving gender justice and faith communities. Experience working with religious organizations or in multicultural environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Latin American and Caribbean context, particularly regarding gender issues, will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires effective communication with Spanish-speaking audiences. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for collaboration with international stakeholders and for accessing relevant resources.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment may vary based on project needs. The role is expected to be part-time, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. The organization is open to recruiting internationally, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Compensation details are not specified, but the role offers valuable experience in gender justice advocacy within a faith-based context.
