The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), based in Beijing, China, is part of ESCAP and focuses on enhancing technical cooperation among member states through information exchange, knowledge sharing, and promoting research and development in sustainable agricultural mechanization and technology, aligning with internationally agreed development goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at ESCAP is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of programme management within a prominent international organization. Interns will be engaged in a full-time capacity, working five days a week for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of extending the internship up to six months. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects, assist in social media outreach, provide administrative support, and work on presentations and data management. Interns will be supervised by a staff member and will have the chance to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, while also gaining insights into the operations of the United Nations and its initiatives in the Asia and Pacific region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that may include, but are not limited to: providing support to ongoing projects, assisting in social media outreach efforts, offering administrative support to the team, working on presentations to communicate project outcomes, and consolidating and sorting data to aid in project analysis. The specific duties will depend on the intern's background and the duration of their internship, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with their skills and interests.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements to be eligible for the internship: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). This ensures that interns possess a foundational level of education and knowledge relevant to the tasks they will undertake during their internship.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes either being currently enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme. This requirement is designed to ensure that interns have a solid academic foundation that can be applied to the work they will be doing at ESCAP.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates are expected to have some familiarity with the workings of international organizations, project management, or related fields. This internship is particularly suited for individuals who are eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, making it an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for the internship programme, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language, but not mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific projects the intern will be involved in.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of China may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization before starting the internship. It is important for successful candidates to discuss their specific visa requirements prior to accepting the internship offer. Additionally, the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a transparent and fair selection process.
