Job Overview: The UN Volunteer position is designed to support the Economic Policy & Private Sector Development (EPPSD) project, which aims to strengthen the institutional, organizational, and financial capacities of MSMEs in Ukraine. The volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Reporting Analyst. The primary functions of this role include assisting in data collection, preparing reports, maintaining databases, and contributing to the development of training materials and events. The volunteer will play a crucial role in ensuring that project activities are effectively implemented and that results are monitored and reported accurately. This position requires a proactive approach to knowledge management and collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate a responsive dialogue between the public and private sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting in the collection of credible data and evidence on project results, collaborating with project recipients and partners.
Developing and updating forms, questionnaires, and checklists for data collection.
Providing inputs and statistics for quarterly and annual reports, designing input collection forms, and preparing statistical visuals.
Conducting desk reviews and basic research to prepare background materials for reporting.
Maintaining the project’s knowledge product database and assisting in its dissemination among stakeholders.
Contributing to the delivery of manuals, training materials, and online courses by preparing necessary documentation and organizing events.
Preparing data for various written outputs, including reports, analyses, and presentations.
Supporting visibility, monitoring, and reporting activities as needed.
Performing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the UN Volunteer position should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail. They should be proficient in data collection and analysis, with experience in preparing reports and visual presentations. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and communicate effectively is essential. Familiarity with the context of MSMEs in Ukraine and the challenges they face is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the principles of accountability, adaptability, and professionalism in their work.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, business administration, social sciences, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in areas related to economic development, project management, or data analysis would be an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles of sustainable development and capacity building.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting, preferably in a development or project management context. Experience working with MSMEs or in economic development initiatives is advantageous. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving project objectives.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and project partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific needs of the project.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer is responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract duration is specified in the vacancy announcement, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. This is a full-time position, and the volunteer will receive a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1587 to cover living expenses. Additional allowances include a one-time entry lump sum of USD 400 and an exit allowance of USD 101.78 for each month served. Medical and life insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the assignment, and volunteers are entitled to annual leave, learning leave, and sick leave as per UNV policies.
