Job Overview:
The Farmer Field School Specialist position is crucial for the implementation of agricultural training programs in Balochistan, Pakistan. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the establishment and functioning of Farmers' Schools (FFS, FBS, FCS, and GWMS) in selected river basins. This role requires a strong focus on ensuring that project activities are completed on time and meet high-quality standards. The specialist will work closely with local farmers, livestock owners, and partner organizations to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable practices. The position demands a proactive approach to capacity building, training facilitation, and effective communication with various stakeholders. The incumbent will also be involved in monitoring and reporting on project progress, ensuring that the objectives of the FAO's initiatives are met effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Farmer Field School Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: facilitating the establishment and effective functioning of Farmers' Schools in targeted watersheds; conducting capacity-building events and training sessions for farmers and facilitators; promoting gender-sensitive approaches in training; developing case studies and success stories; entering data into monitoring systems; coordinating with social mobilizers and NGOs; facilitating field-level activities related to mobilization and training; distributing agricultural inputs; conducting regular field visits to provide guidance on crop and livestock management; and preparing timely reports on project progress and achievements. The specialist will also facilitate participation in exchange visits and study tours for beneficiaries to enhance their learning and exposure to best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in agriculture, livestock, forestry, agribusiness, natural sciences, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of experience in Farmer Field School (FFS) programs or relevant agricultural fields is required. The position also requires a working knowledge of English, Urdu, and local languages such as Pushto, Balochi, and Brahvi. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, facilitation, and report writing skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, livestock, forestry, agribusiness, or natural sciences. The degree must be obtained from an institution accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience, particularly in Farmer Field School (FFS) programs or related agricultural fields. Candidates should have practical knowledge of capacity building and community organization skills, as well as experience in facilitating training programs for farmers and extension workers.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position include English and Urdu, along with local languages such as Pushto, Balochi, and Brahvi. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders.
