Job Overview: The National Consultant will play a crucial role in developing the Country Gender Equality Profile (CGEP) for Serbia, which is a strategic document aimed at providing a comprehensive analysis of the status of gender equality and women's empowerment in the country. This position requires close collaboration with the UN Country Team (UNCT) and the Gender Theme Group (GTG) to ensure that the CGEP aligns with the UN's broader goals and strategies. The consultant will be responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of existing quantitative and qualitative data, drafting the CGEP, and presenting findings to various stakeholders. The CGEP will serve as a key instrument for advocacy, policy dialogues, and resource mobilization, ultimately contributing to the implementation of gender equality policies in Serbia. The consultant will also need to ensure that the CGEP is evidence-based, integrating insights from various data sources and aligning with international human rights standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's main duties and responsibilities include developing a detailed methodology and annotated outline for the CGEP, conducting a comprehensive analysis of existing data, drafting the CGEP in accordance with the agreed methodology, presenting the draft to a reference group, participating in validation meetings, incorporating feedback, and submitting the final CGEP report to UNCT and UN Women. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that the CGEP includes an analysis of both quantitative and qualitative information, providing a robust understanding of gender equality issues in Serbia. This includes reviewing national statistics, UN reports, and other relevant sources, as well as conducting qualitative data collection to enhance the findings. The consultant will need to focus on identifying patterns and disparities in gender equality, particularly for marginalized groups, and assessing the impact of legal and policy frameworks on gender equality in the country.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in human rights, international development, public administration, sociology, or another social science field. Candidates must have at least 7 years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in women's rights and empowerment, as well as familiarity with the EU policy framework on gender equality. Additionally, at least 2 years of experience in conducting gender-related analyses is required. Strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and a proven track record of delivering results are essential qualifications for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field such as human rights, international development, public administration, sociology, or other social science disciplines.
