Job Overview: The Product Specialist role at WRI Indonesia is pivotal in developing reliable and functional systems and tools that address user pain points effectively. Reporting to the Product and Engineering Lead, the Product Specialist will work closely with a skilled development team, including a UI/UX Researcher, Backend Engineer, Software Architect, Emission Analyst, and Full Stack Developer. A significant focus of this position is to enhance SIINas, an emissions reporting platform for the private sector under the Ministry of Industry. The role involves improving system functionalities, ensuring data accuracy, and enhancing user experience for industry stakeholders, aligning with national environmental and industrial policy objectives. The Product Specialist will be responsible for creating user-centered tools that reflect WRI Indonesia's commitment to impactful environmental solutions, ensuring high-quality product development that meets user needs and organizational goals. Additionally, the role requires active participation in WRI's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, integrating equity into workplace culture and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Product Specialist will engage in product development, which constitutes 80% of the role. Responsibilities include collaborating with the User Research Analyst to translate product vision into measurable goals, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, and driving the discovery of business and end-user needs. The Specialist will work with UI/UX researchers to integrate insights into product design, translate needs into actionable requirements, and break down features into structured epics and user stories. They will partner with the Product and Engineering Manager to define the product roadmap and timeline, lead the development and testing of product concepts, and enhance the SIINas platform by improving usability and data reliability. The role also involves engaging with stakeholders to gather feedback, supporting the integration of new modules, providing technical support throughout the product lifecycle, monitoring product usage, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. The remaining 20% of the role involves program management, assisting in coordinating with project stakeholders, planning outreach activities, and collaborating on drafting Product Requirement Documents (PRD).
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Product Management, or a related field. A minimum of three years of professional experience in product ownership or management in software development is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strategic thinking, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to break down complex problems into actionable items. Proven experience in defining product features, writing user stories, and managing a product backlog is essential. Familiarity with collaboration tools such as JIRA, Trello, and Miro, as well as experience with Agile SCRUM methodology, is also required. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory, along with the flexibility to travel for project-related activities. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Indonesia.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Product Management, or other relevant disciplines. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of product development and management, as well as the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and stakeholders.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in product ownership or product management, specifically in the development of software products. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to think strategically, manage product backlogs, and engage with users to gather insights that inform product development. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in the environmental or social impact sectors are preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory for this role. These language skills are essential for effective communication with stakeholders, team members, and users, ensuring that product requirements and feedback are accurately conveyed and understood. The consultant will be compensated based on a daily rate, with a maximum of 18 working days per month. The role includes travel insurance for domestic and international travel as assigned by WRI Indonesia. Candidates must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position. Final candidates may be required to complete a writing test and provide two writing samples if necessary.
