Job Overview:
The Programme Associate Midwifery will play a crucial role within the UNFPA Indonesia country office, specifically within the Programme Unit for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). This position is designed to support the design, planning, and management of donor-funded projects related to midwifery. The Programme Associate will assist in ensuring that project outputs are achieved and that financial delivery is on track. The role involves working closely with national and sub-national stakeholders to enhance the quality of family planning services and improve midwifery institutions. The Programme Associate will also contribute to the implementation of Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) interventions, thereby directly impacting maternal health outcomes in Indonesia. This position requires a proactive approach to project management, including the compilation and analysis of relevant data to inform project formulation and implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate Midwifery will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Compiling and analyzing information relevant to midwifery to inform project formulation, drafting project documents and work plans, and preparing statistical data.
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of midwifery project activities, tracking progress, identifying corrective actions, conducting field visits, and participating in review meetings and evaluation missions.
  • Guiding the routine implementation of assigned projects in coordination with national and project personnel, ensuring the participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.
  • Providing logistical support for project-related meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Assisting in orienting project personnel on relevant administrative and program procedures.
  • Coordinating advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by maintaining a network of donor and public information contacts.
  • Organizing donor meetings and public information events, preparing relevant background materials.
  • Implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices for future planning.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess completed secondary level education as a minimum requirement, with a first-level university degree being desirable. Additionally, candidates should have experience in assisting program or project management in health, gender, population, and development fields. Experience working with various stakeholders, including government and NGOs, is essential, and familiarity with UN agencies is preferred. Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completed secondary level education, with a first-level university degree being an advantage. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of midwifery and project management within the health sector.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in program or project management, particularly in health-related fields. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government entities and non-governmental organizations, is essential. Familiarity with UN agencies and their operational frameworks is considered a valuable asset.

Languages:
Fluency in both verbal and written Indonesian and English is mandatory for this position. This language proficiency is critical for effective communication with stakeholders and for the successful implementation of projects.
