Job Overview: The WPHF Communications and Campaigns Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies for the WPHF. This position involves working closely with the WPHF Head of Secretariat and the Communications and Advocacy Specialist to enhance the visibility and impact of WPHF initiatives. The consultant will be responsible for launching key advocacy campaigns, establishing partnerships with influencers and media, and contributing to major advocacy events. The role requires a proactive approach to monitoring relevant conversations and initiatives across various platforms, ensuring that WPHF's messaging is timely and effective. The consultant will also be tasked with reporting on activities and outcomes, ensuring that best practices are documented and shared.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will support the development, launch, and implementation of at least one key WPHF advocacy campaign, including corresponding events and public activations. They will establish partnerships with at least two key influencers or media partners to promote the advocacy campaign. The consultant will assist in implementing at least two major advocacy events, engaging key stakeholders, and monitoring relevant conversations across platforms. Responsibilities also include coordinating and archiving WPHF communications assets, reporting on web and social media outreach, updating graphic design templates, and creating new content for social media platforms. The consultant will support social media training and collaborate with the communications team on joint campaign activations. Additionally, they will assist with website updates and ensure effective communication strategies are in place for upcoming proposals and country pages.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in non-profit management, communications, public relations, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires at least one year of progressively responsible work experience in communications and campaigns, with a strong emphasis on social media experience. Experience in Women, Peace, and Security is preferred, as is experience with the United Nations or a non-profit organization. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, a strong drive for results, and the ability to work independently.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in non-profit management, communications, public relations, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if accompanied by two additional years of relevant experience.
Experience: At least one year of progressively responsible work experience in communications and campaigns is required. Candidates should have experience with social media and preferably have a background in Women, Peace, and Security, as well as experience working with the United Nations or a non-profit organization.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages such as French, Spanish, Arabic, or any other UN official language is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This is a home-based consultancy position, with potential travel as needed. The consultant is expected to adhere to UN Women’s policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance policy on misconduct.
