Job Overview: The Training & Educational Officer at UNU Macau is tasked with leading the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training, education, and degree programs in collaboration with both internal and external partners. This role is crucial for identifying the learning needs of various audiences, including university students, policymakers, and members of the technology community. The officer will conduct learning needs assessments to pinpoint gaps and determine how UNU Macau can add value through its training offerings. Additionally, the officer will be responsible for developing a comprehensive catalogue of training programs, which will include both online and offline options tailored to meet the specific needs of clients. The position requires a strong focus on educational technology to enhance learning outcomes and the ability to engage diverse learners through innovative learning activities. The officer will also coordinate contributions to degree programs in collaboration with UNU hubs and ensure the financial sustainability of learning programs through partnership building and fundraising efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Training & Educational Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Leading the design and development of training and educational programs, ensuring they are aligned with the learning needs of clients.
Conducting learning needs assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for training.
Developing a catalogue of training offers, customizing training plans for clients, and ensuring that programs are adequately funded.
Collaborating with internal and external partners to design learning programs that utilize educational technology to enhance outcomes.
Identifying and coordinating with trainers and facilitators from various networks.
Designing engaging learning activities, such as simulations and peer exchanges, to enhance learner engagement.
Conducting evaluations of learning programs and using data to inform future designs.
Facilitating contributions to degree programs in collaboration with UNU hubs, including curriculum design and student recruitment.
Maintaining partnerships with various stakeholders, including UN entities and educational institutions, to ensure the sustainability of training programs. 1
Performing other tasks as assigned by the Institute Management, with a focus on timely and quality implementation of educational strategies and programs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in education, international affairs, business administration, economics, psychology, development studies, public policy, information systems, computer science, AI, or related fields. A Doctoral Degree is considered a significant asset. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of full-time experience in training, educational program design, development, delivery, and evaluation, preferably within higher education institutions, training organizations, or UN entities. Proven skills in partnership building and fundraising for educational programs are essential, along with experience in program marketing and promotion. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, and familiarity with Generative AI tools is advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent planning, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with high-level stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as education, international affairs, business administration, economics, psychology, development studies, public policy, information systems, computer science, AI, or related disciplines. A Doctoral Degree is highly desirable and would enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of full-time experience in training and educational program design, development, delivery, and evaluation. Candidates should have a background in higher education institutions, training organizations, or the education sector within government or UN organizations. Experience in partnership building and fundraising for educational initiatives is also essential, along with a proven track record in program marketing and promotion.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with strong communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent drafting abilities. Fluency in Chinese is considered a significant asset, and knowledge of another UN official working language would be beneficial.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time, fixed-term appointment based in Macau, with an initial contract duration of one year, subject to satisfactory performance and the possibility of renewal. The selected candidate is required to reside full-time in Macau, as this is not a remote position. UNU offers an attractive, tax-exempt compensation package at the IP-P3 level, which includes an annual net salary, 30 days of annual leave, dependency benefits, a pension plan, and a health insurance scheme.
