Job Overview:
The position of Facilitator for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment at UN Women India involves leading participatory workshops and consultations that align with the milestones of the Ford Foundation partnership. The facilitator will be responsible for designing and delivering tailored agendas and methodologies for workshops, ensuring that the objectives are met through inclusive and interactive methods. This role requires close collaboration with UN Women teams and partners to synthesize discussions, document insights, and support milestone documentation and donor communications. The facilitator will also engage with various stakeholders, including state governments, civil society organizations, and high-net-worth individuals, to advance gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives across multiple states in India. The facilitator's work will be crucial in ensuring strategic coherence and quality across all convenings and milestones.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Facilitator include:
  • Pre-Workshop: Reviewing project documents such as baseline reports and milestone plans; designing tailored agendas and methodologies for each milestone; supporting state teams in contextualizing facilitation approaches.
  • During Workshop: Facilitating in-person and hybrid events at state and national levels; using inclusive and interactive methods to engage diverse stakeholders; ensuring objectives are met and discussions are synthesized in real-time.
  • Post-Workshop: Documenting key insights, recommendations, and follow-up actions; conducting debrief calls with UN Women and partners for feedback; supporting milestone report drafting and donor presentations; aligning all outputs with the broader program strategy.
  • Strategic Facilitation Support: Facilitating the formation of a platform to leverage public finance to address gender-based violence; supporting strategic dialogues and consultations with government entities, civil society, donors, and private sector actors; drafting background documents and communication materials.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a strong commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, demonstrated experience in researching or working on gender issues, and strong research and writing skills. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and creative thinking abilities, along with the capacity to think and work logically with attention to detail. Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work harmoniously with staff members from diverse national and cultural backgrounds are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent degrees from premier institutions. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and for effectively facilitating discussions and workshops.

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in facilitation, strategy, and gender-related programming is required. Candidates should have prior work experience with UN agencies, donors, government entities, and civil society organizations. Strong documentation and synthesis skills are also necessary to effectively capture insights and recommendations from workshops.

Languages:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi are mandatory. Proficiency in any other Indian language is considered an asset, as it will enhance the ability to communicate research findings to a variety of audiences.

Additional Notes:
The position may require travel, and consultants aged 65 years or older must undergo a full medical examination and provide a statement of fitness to work. Consultants are required to submit a doctor's certificate confirming their fitness to work and travel for this assignment.
