Job Overview: The Data Analyst position is crucial for the effective management of data related to migrant operational assistance and services. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of Resource Management Unit in Germany and the Head of ICT, collaborating closely with Project Managers and other relevant units. The role involves gathering functional requirements from various units within the Country Office, providing technical support, and enhancing system functionalities. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for preparing and distributing statistical information related to Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR), ensuring data quality, and implementing local configurations of IOM's corporate applications. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues and providing solutions to improve business processes and standard operating procedures, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the overall system.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to: gathering functional requirements from relevant units, providing technical support and guidance on IOM applications, identifying issues and proposing solutions to enhance business processes, preparing and distributing AVR-related statistical information, managing data sets, monitoring data quality, and assisting operational staff with technical issues. The Data Analyst will also liaise with the IOM Global Migration Data Analysis Centre in Berlin on data analysis issues and perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor. This role requires a strong focus on collaboration, data management, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Statistical Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant professional experience in similar roles. Alternatively, candidates with a completed High School degree and at least five years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, is required, along with a strong background in statistical analysis. Familiarity with German Asylum and Foreigners’ regulations and EU grant guidelines is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a university degree in a relevant field such as Statistical Science or Information Technology from an accredited academic institution. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with a completed High School degree may also qualify if they have significant relevant professional experience.
Experience: The position requires a strong background in statistical analysis, with a proven track record in data management and analysis. Candidates should have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience in visualizing data using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Adobe Illustrator. Familiarity with SQL reporting services is considered an advantage. The role demands the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Languages: Fluency in English and German is mandatory for this position. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but proficiency in English and German will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Germany will be eligible for consideration. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. Any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon funding confirmation. Candidates must also be medically fit for appointment, and IOM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct incompatible with the organization's aims and objectives.
