Job Overview: The position of Local Consultant on Business Sustainability Development for Cross-Border Market is designed to support the UNDP's initiatives aimed at enhancing business sustainability practices in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing current business practices, identifying opportunities for sustainable development, and facilitating cross-border market strategies that align with UNDP's goals. This role requires a deep understanding of local market dynamics, sustainability principles, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including local businesses, government entities, and community organizations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP to develop actionable recommendations and strategies that promote sustainable business practices and enhance economic resilience in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Conducting a comprehensive assessment of existing business practices in the Khatlon region, focusing on sustainability and cross-border market opportunities.
Engaging with local businesses to understand their challenges and opportunities related to sustainability.
Developing a strategic framework for promoting sustainable business practices that can be implemented by local enterprises.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions for local businesses on sustainability practices and cross-border trade.
Collaborating with UNDP and other stakeholders to align business strategies with regional development goals.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for UNDP and other stakeholders.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of implemented strategies on local businesses and the broader community.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in business development, sustainability, or a related field. A proven track record of working with local businesses and understanding the dynamics of cross-border markets is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and experience in project management. Familiarity with UNDP's mission and values, as well as experience in the Khatlon region, will be considered an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and will be considered an advantage. Candidates should also have relevant certifications in sustainability practices or business development.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in business development, sustainability consulting, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local economic landscape and cross-border trade dynamics in Tajikistan will be a significant advantage.
Languages: Fluency in Tajik and Russian is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the region. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with UNDP's global network.

This is a consultancy role, and the consultant will be expected to work independently while coordinating with UNDP and local stakeholders. The position is part-time, and the consultant will be compensated based on the deliverables outlined in the contract.
