Job Overview: The Communications Advisor position is a critical role within the UNDP, focusing on enhancing communication strategies and outreach efforts. The advisor will be responsible for developing and implementing communication plans that align with UNDP's mission and objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of communication principles and practices, as well as the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and the media. The advisor will work closely with various teams to ensure that communication efforts are coherent, impactful, and effectively convey the organization's messages. The position is home-based, allowing for flexibility while still requiring a commitment to deliver high-quality work within specified deadlines. The assignment period is from July 2025 to February 2026, during which the advisor will be expected to contribute to the overall communication strategy and support the procurement process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that support UNDP's objectives and enhance visibility.
Create and manage content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and reports.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms.
Engage with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback that inform communication strategies.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.
Provide guidance and support to project teams on communication best practices.
Organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions on communication skills for staff and partners.
Represent UNDP at external events and meetings, promoting the organization's work and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an international organization.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content for diverse audiences.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management.
Strong analytical skills to assess communication effectiveness and adapt strategies accordingly.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communications or public relations is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a development context is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of successful communication strategies and initiatives.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.
