Job Overview: The National Consultant for Green Task Force position is designed to support the UNDP's initiatives in promoting sustainable practices and addressing environmental challenges in Egypt. The consultant will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on green policies and strategies, contributing to the development of frameworks that align with national and international environmental goals. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental issues, sustainable development practices, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society, and the private sector. The consultant will work closely with the Green Task Force to implement projects that foster sustainable development and promote green initiatives across different sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant for Green Task Force include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of current environmental policies and practices in Egypt.
Developing strategic recommendations for enhancing green initiatives and sustainable practices.
Collaborating with government entities and stakeholders to promote the adoption of green policies.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to raise awareness about sustainable development.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.
Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of green initiatives and providing feedback for improvement.
Engaging with local communities to promote participation in sustainability efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field. They should have proven experience in policy development and implementation, particularly in the context of green initiatives. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with UNDP's mission and objectives, as well as experience in project management, will be considered an asset. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Public Policy, or a related field is required for this position. Additional certifications or training in environmental management or sustainability practices will be advantageous. Candidates with a strong academic background and relevant coursework will be preferred.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, policy analysis, or project management related to sustainable development. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing green initiatives and engaging with stakeholders at various levels is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of international collaboration.
Additional Notes: This position is for a fixed-term contract lasting 8 months, with a total of 25 working days required. The consultant will work on an individual contractor basis and is expected to deliver high-quality outputs within the specified timeframe. The role is based in Egypt, and candidates should be prepared to engage with local partners and stakeholders.
