Job Overview: The Associate Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the UNHCR-led Tri Clusters, which include Protection, Shelter/NFI, and Site Management Clusters in Sudan. The officer will be based in Nairobi and will work closely with the Senior Protection coordination-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Cluster Coordination Officer and the three Cluster Coordinators. The primary responsibilities include providing information management support, ensuring efficient coordination, precise data collection and analysis, and developing compelling communications and advocacy materials to raise awareness of the Sudan crisis among external audiences, including donors and the international community. The officer will also be responsible for operationalizing data standards, training cluster members, and enhancing the overall capacity of the clusters through effective information management practices. This position is vital in addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, which has resulted in significant internal displacement and a breakdown of essential services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including engaging in bilateral communication with Cluster partners to validate and ensure the accuracy of records maintained in the ActivityInfo 5Ws databases for all three clusters. They will support the analysis of processed data and perform data quality and consistency control. The officer will compile response monitoring data and generate comprehensive narrative reports for OCHA and the Refugee Consultation Forum. They will ensure consistent follow-up with sub-national cluster coordinators to ensure timely completion and submission of state-level gap analysis sheets and bi-weekly reports. Additionally, the officer will create compelling communications and advocacy materials, manage user access in the ActivityInfo databases, maintain and update PowerBi dashboards, and improve existing tools for Stock Mapping and Post Distribution monitoring. They will also facilitate the information management aspects of the HRP development, support geographic data for map production, represent the clusters in relevant meetings, and provide training to cluster partners on information management tools and methodologies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree in information technology, demography, statistics, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience in information management activities in natural disaster or conflict situations. Candidates must have at least 6 years of relevant work experience, with 4 years being acceptable if they hold an advanced university degree. Knowledge of the UN system and the humanitarian community, particularly regarding inter-agency/Cluster Coordination and the Humanitarian Program Cycle (HPC), is essential. Proven experience in working with information management tools and databases such as ActivityInfo, PowerBi, KoBo, Klaviyo, and ArcGIS is required. Candidates should also have a track record of producing high-quality reports and communications materials for various audiences, including donors, and demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Adobe Creative Suite tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to handle confidential data, are also necessary.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in information technology, demography, statistics, social sciences, or any related area. An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience in information management activities in natural disaster or conflict situations will also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding data management, analysis, and reporting in complex humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires at least 6 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 4 years of experience acceptable if the candidate holds an advanced university degree.
