Job Overview:
The National Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the ILO’s Global Programme on the Approach to Inclusive Market Systems (AIMS) in Kenya, particularly focusing on the beauty and artisanal sectors. This position involves leading project activities aimed at fostering refugee-inclusive growth and job creation, which includes monitoring and evaluating project progress, providing technical and administrative supervision to the project team, and ensuring alignment with ILO policies and regulations. The coordinator will also be responsible for developing proposals for program/project development, conducting market systems analyses, and promoting gender equality and non-discrimination throughout the project. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government offices, private sector partners, and other organizations, to ensure effective implementation of project activities and to enhance the visibility of the project at both national and international levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for leading the timely implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project. This includes providing technical and administrative supervision to the project team, contributing to program/project development proposals, and monitoring the progress of ILO Global AIMS programs. The coordinator will conduct research and market systems analyses to support the development of strategies that promote refugee-inclusive growth and job creation. They will also organize training programs and awareness-raising activities for private sector partners and relevant public institutions. The role requires maintaining strong links with ILO specialists and preparing technical progress reports for submission to the ILO and donors. Additionally, the coordinator will manage project administration, ensure high-level communications, and liaise with the UN country team and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in business administration, economics, private sector development, environmental or development studies, or a related field. Training and/or experience in market systems development will be considered an advantage. The role requires excellent command of written and spoken English, as well as good knowledge of entrepreneurship and business start-up development. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to conduct action-oriented research, and the capacity to organize training and coordinate project activities effectively. A good understanding of the local economic and political context in Kenya is also essential.

Educational Background:
A first-level university degree in a relevant field such as business administration, economics, private sector development, environmental studies, or development studies is required. Additional training or experience in market systems development is advantageous and will enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
At least three years of relevant professional experience at the national level is required, particularly in private sector development and/or value chain and market systems development. Knowledge of tools and approaches related to market systems development will be beneficial for candidates applying for this position.

Languages:
The position requires an excellent command of written and spoken English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the stakeholders involved in the project.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. The entry-level salary for this position is 7,836,846 Kenyan Shillings per year.
