Job Overview:
The position of Information Systems Analyst involves working under the direct supervision of the Head of DevOps and Infrastructure and the overall guidance of the Chief Digital Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new application systems releases, modules, and functionalities. This role requires the analyst to develop, test, and implement simple computer application systems and programs using UN established standards for IT technologies, programming languages, and tools. The analyst will also serve as a team member in planning, specification, design, development, implementation, and support of computer application systems, liaising with users to define and specify requirements. The position demands a proactive approach to monitoring computer applications systems and producing monitoring reports, as well as preparing technical and user documentation for deployed systems and conducting training sessions. The analyst will maintain functional specifications for systems developed or modified and provide ongoing support for deployed systems, including version management and data recovery. The role also includes drafting correspondence and communications, coordinating computer application systems development projects, and keeping abreast of developments in the field to propose new acquisitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Systems Analyst include participating in the development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new application systems releases, modules, and functionalities. The analyst will develop, test, and implement simple computer application systems and programs, serve as a team member in planning and specification, and independently liaise with users to define requirements. Responsibilities also include installing software and hardware according to specifications, monitoring applications using appropriate tools, preparing technical and user documentation, and conducting training sessions. The analyst will maintain functional specifications, provide support for deployed systems, draft correspondence, and serve as a focal point for coordination and monitoring of development projects. The role requires keeping abreast of developments in the field, performing benchmarking, and providing guidance to new or junior staff. Additionally, the analyst will assist with data collection and analysis, preparation of presentations and reports, and updating information materials such as web pages or brochures.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Information Systems Analyst position include a high school diploma or equivalent, along with additional training and a technical or vocational certificate in information technology, computer science, or related areas. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration, and maintenance is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree may have the minimum experience requirement reduced to five years. Experience in software development and technical writing is essential, as well as experience in Power Platform development (Canvas, DataVerse, and Power Flows). Desirable qualifications include work experience in mobile application development and cloud-based container platforms, Azure or AWS administration, and DevOps, along with at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related area.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, candidates must possess a technical or vocational certificate in information technology, computer science, or other related fields. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of information systems and the technical skills necessary for the role.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration, and maintenance. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the candidate is well-versed in the various aspects of information systems and can effectively contribute to the organization's goals. For those with a first-level university degree, the minimum experience requirement is reduced to five years. Experience in software development and technical writing is mandatory, while experience in Power Platform development and mobile application development is highly desirable.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this job opening, proficiency in English is required, with a minimum level of proficiency specified as UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an initial period of one year and may be subject to extension based on the continued existence of the mandate and availability of funding. The appointment will be granted as a fixed-term appointment limited (FTA-limited) in accordance with administrative instructions.
