Job Overview: The Gender-Inclusive Investment and Industry Strategies Consultant will play a crucial role in developing the Gender and E-Mobility: Investor and Industry Handbook, which aims to provide a strategic guide for investors and industry leaders on how gender inclusion can drive innovation, market growth, and financial performance in the e-mobility sector. This position requires the consultant to synthesize evidence, key metrics, and real-world case studies to illustrate the business and investment case for gender inclusion. The Handbook will also include gender-responsive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and frameworks for integrating gender inclusion into business models. Additionally, the consultant will develop a Regional Accelerator Methodology to implement the Handbook in various regional contexts, facilitating structured discussions and investment mobilization for gender-inclusive e-mobility solutions. The consultant will work closely with UNEP's Gender Focal Point and engage with industry actors, investors, and policymakers to operationalize gender-inclusive strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop the Gender and E-Mobility Investor and Industry Handbook, ensuring it serves as a practical guide for integrating gender inclusion into business and investment strategies in the e-mobility sector.
Conduct thorough research and analysis to compile evidence and case studies that demonstrate the impact of gender inclusion on business performance and market growth.
Create gender-responsive KPIs and frameworks that can attract concessional and blended finance while de-risking investments.
Develop the Regional Accelerator Methodology, translating the Handbook into a step-by-step framework for regional application.
Facilitate one-day Accelerator sessions in Bangalore, Nairobi, and Bogotá, engaging regional industry actors, investors, and policymakers.
Provide practical guidance on embedding the Handbook into discussions and activities during the Accelerator sessions.
Collaborate with UNEP and GIZ to ensure the successful implementation of the Regional Accelerator Series.
Report to the SMU Gender Focal Point Programme Officer, ensuring alignment with UNEP's objectives and strategies.
Required Qualifications:
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in gender studies, sustainable transport, development economics, finance, business, or a related field. A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
At least 5 years of experience in sustainable finance, impact investment, or venture capital, particularly in designing or advising gender-responsive or inclusive investment strategies.
Strong understanding of emerging market contexts, including market dynamics, financing barriers, and enabling conditions for e-mobility adoption.
Experience in developing strategic publications, toolkits, or investor guides for international organizations, donors, or private-sector partners.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex policy and financial concepts into clear, practical guidance.
Solid understanding of gender-responsive investment and business models, particularly in relation to low-carbon mobility transitions.
Excellent coordination, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent written and communication skills.

Additional Notes: The position is home-based and allows for remote work. The expected duration of the consultancy is five months. The consultant will not be responsible for graphic design or final typesetting, but the manuscript must be structured, edited, and formatted to publication standards. The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
