Job Overview: The Programme and Project Management Consultant position is designed for individuals who will provide expert guidance and support in managing and implementing projects and programs within the UNDP framework. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with UNDP's strategic objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of project management methodologies, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and other UN agencies. The consultant will also be expected to contribute to the development of project proposals, monitor project progress, and evaluate outcomes to ensure that objectives are met and lessons learned are documented for future initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme and Project Management Consultant include but are not limited to:
Developing project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
Coordinating project activities and ensuring that they are implemented according to the established timelines and budgets.
Monitoring project progress and performance, identifying risks and issues, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Preparing and presenting regular project reports to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Facilitating communication and collaboration among project team members and external partners to foster a cohesive working environment.
Conducting evaluations and assessments of project outcomes to measure impact and effectiveness.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
A proven track record in project management, particularly within the context of international development or public sector projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with UNDP's operational policies and procedures is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in project management, international development, public administration, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage in the selection process.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, with a focus on international development or related fields. Experience working with UN agencies or other international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where UNDP operates, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This position is a home-based assignment with a contract duration of 1 year, extendable up to a maximum of 3 years based on performance and project needs. The consultant will work on an individual contractor basis, and the role is expected to be full-time.
