Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant work experience. The programme aims to provide practical experience and exposure to the workings of an international organization, allowing interns to contribute to various projects while gaining valuable insights into the field of migration. Interns will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and will assist with operational activities, administrative tasks, and project implementation, thereby enhancing their understanding of IOM's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: fulfilling internal administrative formalities and following up on documents such as payment requests and travel documents; assisting in the organization of events and workshops, including drafting invitations and coordinating schedules; updating partners' contact lists; drafting and laying out project-related communication materials such as reports and articles; maintaining systematic tracking and filing systems for administrative documents; verifying invoices and ensuring that services were received before processing payments; preparing for and attending meetings, including drafting minutes; and maintaining confidentiality regarding project-related information. Interns may also be required to translate documents as needed and undertake additional tasks as assigned by their supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with migration themes and the region is considered an asset. Interns should be computer literate and able to quickly learn new systems. They should also possess strong organizational and planning skills, excellent time management abilities, and the capacity to work effectively within a diverse team. Preferred fields of study include business administration or related domains, which will provide the necessary background for the tasks involved in the internship.

Experience:
Interns should have a demonstrated interest in working with international organizations and ideally possess some experience or knowledge related to project implementation and administrative management. While specific prior work experience is not mandatory, familiarity with the migration thematic and the region will be advantageous. The internship is particularly suited for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to IOM's mission while developing their professional skills.

Languages:
Fluency in French, English, and Arabic is required for this position. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Strong communication skills in all three languages are essential for effective collaboration and documentation.

Additional Notes:
The internship is subject to funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial remuneration or credits from their university or other sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan for the duration of the internship. However, interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that contradicts the organization's values, including discrimination and harassment. The recruitment process does not involve any fees, and applications must be submitted through the IOM online recruitment system.
