Job Overview:
The intern will work under the supervision of the Partnerships Development and Communications Officer at UNOPS Nepal, primarily supporting activities related to communications and partnerships development. The role involves conducting market research and analysis of development partners in Nepal, particularly in sectors like climate change and health. The intern will also assist in researching and analyzing information on projects and partners to identify new business opportunities, engage in proposal writing, and support project management by coordinating assurance tasks and improving compliance. Additionally, the intern will provide oversight of financial and procurement data, assist in preparing analysis reports, and support communication efforts, including social media management and the preparation of high-level communication materials. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in communications and project management while contributing to the successful implementation of UNOPS projects in Nepal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct market research and analysis of development partners in Nepal, focusing on sectors such as climate change and health.
  • Research and analyze information on projects and partners to identify new business opportunities.
  • Assist in proposal writing to support partnership development.
  • Support the project team in implementing procurement plans and coordinating assurance tasks.
  • Provide oversight and analysis of financial and procurement data for projects.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing analysis reports and maintaining communication with project stakeholders.
  • Draft high-quality communication materials, including presentations and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage social media content planning and posting for UNOPS country social media handles.
  • Prepare high-level communication materials such as program fact sheets and briefing materials for meetings with external partners. 1
  • Perform secretarial duties, including writing and circulating meeting minutes and providing administrative support to the Country Manager.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in International Affairs, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business Administration, or Project Management is required.
  • Must be enrolled in a university program (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or have graduated within three years before the application date.
  • Prior project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Some professional experience in International Development, Project Management, Administration, Engineering, or a relevant field is desirable.
  • Experience in research, analysis, and report writing is desirable.
  • Strong computer literacy in Google Suite applications or equivalent MS Office programs, particularly proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
  • Experience in Google Data Studio is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization are essential.
  • Must be tactful, discreet, and diplomatic, with flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. 1
  • Ability to work in an international/multicultural environment is necessary.

Educational Background:

Additional Notes:
This internship is a full-time position with a contract duration of 12 months.
