Job Overview: The Senior Policy Expert on Water Resources will play a crucial role in the National Governance Program, focusing on the management and sustainable use of water resources in Pakistan. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of current water governance frameworks and policies in Pakistan.
Develop strategic recommendations for improving water resource management practices at the national and provincial levels.
Facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues and workshops to gather input and build consensus on water governance issues.
Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to promote integrated water resource management.
Prepare detailed reports and policy briefs outlining findings and recommendations for policymakers.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of water governance initiatives and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Engage with international partners and organizations to share best practices and lessons learned in water governance.
Support capacity-building efforts for government officials and stakeholders involved in water resource management.
Ensure alignment of water governance strategies with national development goals and international commitments.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Senior Policy Expert position should possess a strong background in water resource management, environmental policy, or a related field. A proven track record of working with government agencies and stakeholders in developing and implementing water governance frameworks is essential. The candidate should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly to diverse audiences. Educational Background: A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, Public Policy, or a related field is required. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water resource management, policy development, or governance. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, and civil society in Pakistan or similar contexts is highly desirable. Proven experience in leading multi-stakeholder processes and facilitating dialogues on water governance issues is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 20 working days spread over a period of 4 months. The position is based in Islamabad, Pakistan, and may require travel within the country for stakeholder consultations and workshops.
