Job Overview:
The Project Assistant position is situated within the Economic and Environmental Department of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan. This role is part of an extra-budgetary project titled 'Stakeholder Engagement for Uranium Legacy Remediation in Central Asia. Phase III,' which is expected to last for two years. The project aims to engage local stakeholders, build capacity, and raise awareness regarding uranium legacy site remediation. The Project Assistant will work closely with the Project Officer and the Senior Project Officer, contributing to the development and implementation of project activities. The role requires effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, including government ministries and international partners, to ensure successful project execution and adherence to timelines and budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of project activities by liaising with counterparts and facilitating their participation.
  • Drafting terms of reference for consultants and monitoring the implementation of activities and submission of reports by implementing partners.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, making reservations, and conducting budget follow-ups.
  • Preparing necessary documents including requisitions, travel requests, and expenditure authorizations.
  • Initiating and following up on actions related to requisitions, recruitment of consultants, and other project-related inquiries.
  • Keeping track of pending matters and following up with other offices on deadlines and budget expenditures.
  • Establishing and maintaining relations with project stakeholders and ensuring coordination of project activities with relevant partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess completed secondary education, with specialized training in project management or administration being desirable. For positions in the General Service category, a university degree may substitute for one year of work experience, while a second-level university degree may substitute for two years of work experience. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of work experience in project administration, with a strong background in project planning, implementation, and reporting. Proficiency in conducting research and collecting information from various sources is essential, along with computer literacy in applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Oracle ERP software is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes completed secondary education. A relevant specialized training in project management or administration is desirable. Candidates with a university degree may have their educational background considered as a substitute for work experience, which can be beneficial for those applying for this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in project administration. Additional Notes:

The monthly remuneration is USD 1,128.00, subject to social security deductions, and appointments are typically made at Step 1 of the OSCE salary scale. In exceptional cases, appointments may be made at a higher step based on relevant experience or previous remuneration.
