Job Overview: The Analytical Chemist (Food Safety) will play a crucial role in enhancing food safety and quality through the application of advanced analytical techniques. This position involves developing and validating analytical methods for food safety compliance, training personnel in Member State laboratories, and assisting in the evaluation and implementation of technical cooperation projects. The role requires a strong foundation in analytical chemistry and a commitment to improving food safety standards globally. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Analytical Chemist (Food Safety) include adapting and validating analytical methods for food safety assessments, performing statistical analyses for data interpretation, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments such as LC-MS(MS) and GC-MS, preparing training materials, and revising standard operating procedures. The role also involves evaluating scientific data, preparing technical reports, and contributing to the laboratory's quality assurance system. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with Member States to enhance their laboratory capabilities and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in analytical chemistry, food chemistry, or a related discipline. A post-graduate degree is advantageous. The position requires a minimum of two years of experience in food safety, specifically using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Familiarity with laboratory quality assurance principles, particularly ISO 17025, is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex scientific information to diverse audiences are also required. Experience in teaching or training in laboratory settings is a plus.

Additional Notes: The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $55,163, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $28,74
