The role involves assisting in data collection, literature review, analysis, and writing on global housing issues, as well as supporting the management of knowledge materials and events related to housing and human security. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining insights into the workings of the UN and the challenges faced in urban development. The internship is full-time and unpaid, lasting a maximum of six months, with the possibility of remote work for part of the duration depending on individual circumstances.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's daily responsibilities will vary based on their background and the specific office they are assigned to. Key duties include: supporting data collection and analysis on housing and human security issues; assisting in the development and management of knowledge materials; organizing and documenting events and meetings related to housing; tracking relevant national and international meetings; providing research support for resource mobilization activities; contributing to communication and advocacy initiatives; managing the LHS knowledge management system; conducting research on topics relevant to the LHS Community of Practice; and performing other related tasks as assigned by supervisors. This role is integral to enhancing UN-Habitat's capacity to deliver adequate housing and improve urban living conditions.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent), be in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level), or have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and possess the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of urban development, land management, and housing policy is essential, and experience in research and technical writing is desirable. Applicants are encouraged to have a background in Housing Studies, Urban Development, Human Security, or related social sciences.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a Bachelor's degree program or equivalent, or having completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program.
