Job Overview:
The position of Project Manager for Solar-Powered Irrigation Systems involves overseeing a project funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) aimed at enhancing the resilience of vulnerable agricultural households in Southern Iraq. The role requires the design and implementation of solar-powered irrigation systems, focusing on climate-smart agricultural practices. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries and local communities, to promote the adoption of solar energy solutions that improve water productivity and food security. The project emphasizes gender inclusivity, recognizing the critical role of women in agriculture and the need for equitable access to resources and training.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of solar PV pumping installations, which includes overseeing the supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, and maintenance of both large-scale and small-scale systems. Key responsibilities include conducting technical evaluations of supplier offers, supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and maintaining detailed records of the installation process. The manager will also conduct post-installation checks, prepare progress reports, and document lessons learned for future projects. Engaging with stakeholders at various levels, facilitating training for beneficiaries, and ensuring compliance with social and environmental standards are also critical aspects of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Engineering, particularly in Renewable Energy, Electrical, or Mechanical fields, or a closely related technical discipline. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering or energy management is required. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of project formulation, analysis, planning, and implementation, particularly in multi-stakeholder environments. Familiarity with FAO policies and UN operational procedures is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant engineering field is mandatory, with a focus on renewable energy or related disciplines being highly preferred. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of solar energy systems and their implementation in agricultural settings.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in engineering or energy management, with a proven track record in managing complex projects. Experience in working with international organizations, particularly in developing countries, is advantageous. The ability to navigate multi-stakeholder environments and coordinate project operations effectively is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
