Job Overview: The Associate Project Coordinator position is situated within the Executive Office of the UNESCO Culture Sector, which is responsible for the overall coordination of the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Approved Programme and Budget of the Culture Sector. The role is crucial in supporting transversal, voluntary contributions funded activities and initiatives, ensuring their alignment with the Programme and Budget, and facilitating coordination within the Culture Sector. The incumbent will engage in initiatives related to culture and sustainable development, sustainable cultural tourism, and the follow-up of the UNESCO High-Level Forum for Museums. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including other UNESCO Programme Sectors, partners, and networks, to enhance the development and implementation of projects and initiatives. The Associate Project Coordinator will also be responsible for creating and reinforcing partnerships with international partners and will support the elaboration of internal and external communication materials, including briefings, speeches, and online content in both English and French.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Project Coordinator will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the alignment of various culture projects and documents proposed by the Culture Sector’s Entities with UNESCO’s Medium-Term Strategy (C/4) and Programme and Budget (C/5).
Coordinating the follow-up of the third edition of the UNESCO High-Level Forum for Museums.
Facilitating the creation and reinforcement of cooperation and partnerships with international partners, networks, and key players to strengthen project development and implementation.
Collaborating with other UNESCO Programme Sectors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective project coordination.
Assisting in the elaboration of internal and external communication content, including briefings for higher management, talking points, speeches, and online content for the Culture Sector.
Supporting the general coordination of the implementation and review of transversal programmes and projects, ensuring their alignment with UNESCO’s strategic goals.
Engaging in activities that promote culture and sustainable development, and sustainable cultural tourism.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in fields such as culture, humanities, political science, international relations, law, public administration, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in the field of culture, with at least one year of experience acquired at the international level. Experience in programme coordination and liaison with external partners is also required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent coordination skills, the ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and strong analytical, diplomacy, and advocacy skills. The ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities is essential, along with a strong attention to detail and quality of work.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in relevant fields such as culture, humanities, political science, international relations, law, public administration, or a related discipline.
