Job Overview:

Interns will work closely with the DPPA Policy and Mediation Division's Innovation Cell, engaging in a variety of projects that support the organization's mission. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative approaches in conflict analysis, peacemaking, and peacebuilding, while also developing their research and analytical skills. The role involves supporting all stages of innovation projects, from initial brainstorming sessions to project evaluations and communications. Interns will also conduct research on relevant topics, prepare briefing materials, and assist in project-specific tasks, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations and its approach to global peace initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties that include supporting innovation projects, conducting research in areas relevant to the Division, preparing analytical documents and briefing materials, assisting with communication outreach, and summarizing conferences and meetings. Specific tasks may involve logistics support during events, coordination with external partners, and contributing to digital dialogues and social media analysis. Interns will also be expected to attend meetings and conferences, providing summaries and insights that contribute to the Division's objectives. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in digital dialogues, generative AI, and social media analysis as tools for advancing peace and security efforts. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field, such as international relations, political science, peace studies, or a related discipline. The internship is open to students in their final year of undergraduate studies, as well as those pursuing or having completed graduate degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.). Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree program must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
