Job Overview:
The Senior Supply Assistant plays a crucial role in managing and supporting all activities related to the supply chain function, which includes warehousing, inventory management, transport management, and monitoring within the designated area of responsibility. This position is supervised by a higher-level supply position and involves regular communication with other UNHCR offices, UN agencies, NGOs, government partners, and commercial contractors to facilitate effective supply operations. The incumbent is expected to exercise efficiency in resource utilization while supporting and monitoring supply activities within the geographical area covered. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Supply Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: managing the storage of goods according to best practices and UNHCR regulations; ensuring timely reporting of incoming and outgoing shipments; planning and implementing daily activities based on inventory movements; verifying inventories and ensuring they are owned by UNHCR; controlling storage conditions and ensuring the quality of inventory; maintaining accurate documentation and filing routines; investigating inventory discrepancies; supervising personnel and ensuring their training; inspecting warehouse conditions; and performing other related duties as required. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with UNHCR's operational standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or 1 year of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Additionally, candidates should have certificates or licenses in stock and warehousing management, supply chain, or logistics. Strong technical skills in warehousing and inventory management, as well as experience in managing logistics operations in challenging environments, are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong managerial skills, including the ability to supervise and coach local labor and transport service providers, and possess good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field. Specific fields of education are not applicable, but certifications in stock and warehousing management, supply chain management, or logistics are highly desirable. Additional training in UN procurement and logistics is also beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in warehousing and inventory management, particularly in field operations within hardship locations. Experience in managing logistics operations, including the movement of core relief items and medical supplies, is crucial. Candidates with prior experience working with UN agencies or humanitarian NGOs in Sudan will have an advantage. The role also demands familiarity with emergency situations and interagency logistics operations in challenging environments.

Languages:
English is the essential language for this position, and candidates must be able to read, understand, write, and participate in meetings conducted in English. Fluency in Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and partners.
