  • The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) play a crucial role in supporting countries to achieve their development priorities and the SDGs, under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System at the country level.

Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Thailand, where the intern will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the workings of the UN Country Team. The intern will be involved in coordinating across various UN agencies on critical annual processes, including the annual results report, corporate and normative scorecards, results-based management, and the Cooperation Framework Processes. The internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the UN's efforts to support countries in achieving their development goals, particularly in relation to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. The position is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours. The internship duration is a minimum of 2 months, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months, depending on the needs of the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will report directly to the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office and will be responsible for assisting in various tasks related to the UN's development initiatives. This includes supporting the preparation and coordination of the annual results report, contributing to the development of corporate and normative scorecards, and assisting in the implementation of results-based management practices. The intern will also engage in the Cooperation Framework Processes, which involve collaboration with multiple UN agencies to ensure alignment with national development priorities. Additionally, the intern may be tasked with conducting research, preparing documents, and participating in meetings to facilitate effective communication and coordination among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, applicants should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship they are applying for. It is essential for applicants to provide proof of their academic status at the time of application.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or they should have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. This educational background is crucial as it ensures that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills relevant to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, it is beneficial for applicants to have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This could include studies in international relations, development studies, public policy, or other related fields that provide a foundation for understanding the UN's work and the context in which it operates.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
