Job Overview: The Investment Officer position at IFC's Bangkok office is pivotal in assessing fund managers in East Asia, particularly in developing Southeast Asia, to determine their alignment with IFC's investment criteria, which encompass financial returns, development impact, and environmental and social responsibility. The role also involves conducting portfolio monitoring analyses for IFC's existing portfolio. The Investment Officer will engage in corporate assignments and global portfolio analyses, requiring a high level of interest in private equity, international business, emerging markets, and development impact. This dynamic role is essential for ensuring that investment projects meet IFC standards and contribute positively to the development landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Investment Officer are categorized into three main areas: New Business, Portfolio Management, and Corporate Strategy. In New Business, the officer will lead due diligence and structuring of private equity fund investment projects in East Asia, coordinating with various internal IFC stakeholders to ensure compliance with IFC standards. This includes conducting industry research, networking at regional and global industry conferences, and assisting with market mappings. For Portfolio Management, the officer will actively monitor the assigned portfolio of funds, reviewing reports, participating in meetings with fund managers, and making portfolio decisions in collaboration with the Legal department and Portfolio Manager. Additionally, the officer will build and maintain client relationships to enhance new business opportunities and prepare documentation for internal processes. In Corporate Strategy, the officer will assist Global Managers with assignments related to corporate strategy, analyze the development impact of IFC’s funds’ portfolio, and ensure data accuracy in internal systems.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum master's or equivalent degree from a reputable university, preferably with a major in economics, finance, or accounting. An MBA from a leading international institution is preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of working experience in a reputable institution in fund investments, equity investments, corporate finance, or consulting is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to work successfully in multi-cultural teams are essential. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork skills, a strong client service orientation, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Willingness to travel is also necessary.
