Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is a leading scientific research organization established to probe the fundamental structure of the universe. It employs physicists and engineers who utilize the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter. CERN's mission is to advance knowledge in the field of particle physics and to provide insights into the fundamental laws of nature. The organization has a diverse workforce and operates in multiple countries, focusing on international collaboration in scientific research.

Job Overview:
The position of Land Survey Technician specialized in GIS Data and Modular Building Management at CERN involves managing geospatial data and coordinating infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining geographic information related to buildings, infrastructure, and land use. This role requires overseeing contracts for construction facilities and working within the Site Asset Management Group in the Site and Civil Engineering Department. The technician will be responsible for coordinating activities, managing contracts, updating databases, and creating maps and geospatial visualizations to support planning and decision-making processes. The position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about geospatial data management and have a keen interest in infrastructure projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This involves integrating, updating, and improving data using external sources or plans, particularly for buried networks. The technician will ensure data accuracy and reliability through validation campaigns, corrections, and optimized data management processes. Additionally, the technician will manage asset data for civil engineering works and infrastructure, including numbering and technical information, and archive civil engineering documents such as drawings, plans, and authorizations. The role also includes managing contracts for temporary structures (modular buildings), coordinating and supervising the installation, removal, or demolition of modular cabins or buildings, and performing other related tasks such as topographical measurements or managing building identification signs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of land surveying, civil engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience in infrastructure-related drawing (GIS or CAD), particularly for underground networks, is required. Hands-on experience in geographic data management ensuring data quality is essential, along with proven experience in site facilities and construction logistics, including coordination of site works and network connections. Knowledge of contract administration for rental agreements, including invoice control and contract renewals, is also necessary. A background in civil engineering drafting, construction management, or a related technical field is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
