Job Overview:
The ServiceNow Developer position is part of the Service Management and Support Group at CERN, which is responsible for promoting best practices and tools in service management across the organization. The role involves working with an integrated service management platform and Service Portal based on ServiceNow. The successful candidate will contribute to the configuration, customization, extension, and support of tools that serve all CERN services. This position is crucial for shaping the future of the ServiceNow platform, supporting continuous improvement, and delivering efficient, high-quality services across CERN. The developer will focus on enhancing the end-user experience, ensuring the platform's reliability, and collaborating with various stakeholders to implement new features and interfaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ServiceNow Developer include contributing to new developments and platform customizations, particularly in improving the end-user experience on the CERN Service Portal through guided search schemes and AI features. The developer will review how the Service Management platform synchronizes location information with other platforms and databases at CERN to eliminate discrepancies. Collaboration with the Service Desk and other stakeholders is essential for designing and implementing a new user interface for supporters across CERN. Additionally, the developer will be responsible for the operation, configuration, and support of the platform, ensuring first-class availability, managing end-user support duties, and applying patches and upgrades released by the platform provider. The role also involves handling tickets for over 750 services across CERN, making it vital for the organization's service management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. By the application deadline, applicants should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computing or a related field, with a highest educational qualification of either a Bachelor's or Master's degree. It is important to note that applicants who have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract are not eligible, and those without a university degree or with a PhD are also ineligible. Strong programming skills, particularly in JavaScript, are essential, and knowledge of Python is a plus. Familiarity with web application debugging, web services (REST/SOAP), and front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/jQuery) is also required, with AngularJS being an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computing or a related field. Candidates must have graduated within the last two years to be eligible for the role.
