Job Overview: The position of Technical Consultant focuses on enhancing the eco-efficiency of social infrastructures for children and youth in Central Asia, particularly in the context of climate change. The consultant will work closely with UNICEF Country Offices to ensure that sustainability considerations are integrated into infrastructure projects, thereby contributing to the resilience of education systems against climate change and natural disasters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and oversight in conducting pre-energy and energy audits in school and health infrastructures in Central Asia.
Offer strategic and technical oversight to UNICEF Country Offices regarding energy efficiency, renewable energy, and ventilation measures.
Develop technical guidelines for UNICEF based on the implementation of infrastructure greening models in the region.
Create an evidence-based business model advocacy package to promote and scale up greening initiatives in education and health facilities.
Support UNICEF Country Offices and the Business Model Initiative Steering Committee as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in environmental science, engineering, energy auditing, or a related discipline. They should have a minimum of eight years of work experience in energy efficiency and sustainability, with a focus on leveraging renewable resources and building inspection. Previous experience in the Central Asia region is advantageous, as is knowledge of the United Nations system or international organizations. Familiarity with international development, humanitarian issues, and children's rights is also beneficial. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of other relevant languages is a plus.
