Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator will lead financial operations within the Yemen mission, which operates in a volatile environment. This role involves directing and coordinating all administrative, accounting, and financial services associated with the mission. The Finance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the mission's financial balance and ensuring adherence to Solidarités administrative procedures, donor requirements, and local laws. This position serves as the primary financial reference for the mission and acts as a liaison between headquarters and the mission for all financial matters. The Finance Coordinator will work closely with field bases to monitor the financial aspects of ongoing projects. Given the unstable administrative environment in Aden, the Finance Coordinator must regularly track Yemeni laws and processes, including exchange rates and banking situations. Training and capacity building for the Administrative & Finance teams is a priority, as many team members have the potential to assume key finance roles. The Finance Coordinator will also be involved in reviewing financial volumes and updating financial planning as necessary, especially as several long-term projects are nearing completion.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator's duties include closely monitoring the banking situation in Yemen, overseeing the exchange rate, and reviewing the financial forecasts for ongoing projects. They will be responsible for financial reporting on long-term projects, working with the Emergency Response Team (EPRT) to monitor budget spending, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Finance Coordinator will also train and support the administrative and finance teams at both the coordination and base levels, prioritize national staff capacity building, and ensure effective closure of projects by submitting necessary reports. Additionally, the Finance Coordinator will manage financial operations, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure timely reporting to headquarters and donors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Financial Management and have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, including 3-4 years in a similar position. Specific technical skills required include knowledge of Saga software, familiarity with Solidarités rules and procedures, and understanding of Shared Cost Methodology. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical and writing skills, the ability to work under pressure in a tense security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security environment, and good organizational skills.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Financial Management is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding financial principles and practices relevant to the humanitarian sector.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3-4 years in a finance-related role. This experience should include managing financial operations, reporting, and compliance in a challenging environment, ideally within a humanitarian context.
Languages: Fluency in written and oral English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication and understanding within the local context.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract lasting 9 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance. The role is based in Aden, Yemen, where the security situation is unstable and requires staff to spend 50-70% of their time. The organization offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, along with a monthly per diem of USD 75
