Job Overview:
The French Language Social Media Intern position is a full-time, in-person internship located in New York City, designed to last up to six months. The intern will work within the Social Media Section of the Communications Campaigns Service, which is part of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division of the Department of Global Communications. This role is crucial for supporting the UN's social media activities, which are integral to its communication strategies. The intern will be expected to engage in various tasks that involve creating and managing social media content in French, monitoring engagement metrics, and assisting in the development of original content tailored for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The intern will also have the opportunity to attend meetings and contribute to special projects, providing a comprehensive experience in the field of communications and social media management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: researching, compiling, drafting, and editing information for social media content in French, often under tight deadlines; monitoring and analyzing statistics related to social media performance; gathering content from special events such as film screenings, concerts, and exhibits; assisting in the creation of original French-language content for various social media platforms; attending meetings as an observer; and supporting special projects as assigned. The intern will play a vital role in enhancing the UN's online presence and engagement with its audience.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). While professional work experience is not mandatory, a field of study closely related to communications, digital media, or a similar area is required. Applicants must demonstrate fluency in French and familiarity with software programs such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop is desirable. Additionally, applicants should have an interest in digital photography and be able to provide evidence of their skills and experiences in these areas.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be either enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This educational background should ideally be in a field related to communications, digital media, or a similar discipline. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree must be provided during the application process, along with a description of the applicant's area of study.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a requirement for this internship, applicants should demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge in the field of communications or digital media.
