Job Overview: As the Country Manager for Guinea, you will be responsible for managing and representing the country program office, ensuring that the objectives of programming and operations align with the mission of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to serve the poor and vulnerable. Your role will involve advancing CRS's strategy and securing critical resources necessary for the continuation of its work in Guinea. You will lead efforts to deliver high-quality programming and continuously seek to improve the impact of CRS's initiatives. This includes coordinating activities across various projects to ensure effective integration of program interventions and efficient implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your key responsibilities will include providing strategic direction for the Guinea office in collaboration with the Regional Director, ensuring the establishment and successful implementation of high-quality programs. You will increase CRS's visibility in Guinea by engaging with multiple stakeholders, including donors, government representatives, and local and international partners. Oversight of project operations will be crucial, including financial accountability, human resources management, risk and compliance, and ensuring staff safety. You will develop partnerships with Catholic Church leadership and other organizations, ensuring that all projects meet donor expectations and are designed for maximum impact. Additionally, you will manage senior talent, supervise team dynamics, and promote a culture of learning and accountability within the organization.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing high-value relief and development programs is essential. Candidates should possess strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make timely decisions with appropriate consultation. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally. The ability to lead a team and work collaboratively in cross-functional settings is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development or International Relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and development programs.
Experience: The role demands a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing high-value relief and development programs. Experience in complex development settings is preferred, as is a background in engaging with partners, including local government and the private sector, to strengthen their capacity.
Languages: Fluency in both English and French is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is essential. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
