Job Overview: This consultancy assignment involves the installation of potato value chain equipment at Kabale University, specifically aimed at enhancing the university's innovation and business incubation center. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough assessment of the potato value chain processes at Kabale University to identify specific equipment needs.
Develop a detailed installation plan that includes timelines, resource requirements, and training needs for university staff.
Collaborate with university stakeholders to ensure that the installation aligns with the university's strategic goals for innovation and business incubation.
Oversee the installation of the potato value chain equipment, ensuring that all components are installed correctly and function as intended.
Provide training and support to university staff on the operation and maintenance of the installed equipment.
Prepare a final report summarizing the installation process, challenges encountered, and recommendations for future improvements in the potato value chain.
Required Qualifications: The consultant must possess a strong background in agricultural engineering or a related field, with specific expertise in value chain development and equipment installation. Proven experience in similar consultancy roles, particularly in the agricultural sector, is essential. The consultant should also demonstrate strong project management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering, agronomy, or a related field is required. A master's degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage. Additional certifications in project management or consultancy will also be beneficial.
Experience: The consultant should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural consultancy, specifically in the installation of agricultural equipment and value chain development. Experience working with universities or educational institutions in similar projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local agricultural context in Uganda will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda may be considered an asset, as it can facilitate better communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is for a fixed duration of one month, and the consultant will be expected to work full-time during this period. The position is open to both national and international candidates. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and specific details will be discussed during the negotiation phase.
