Job Overview:
The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) Regional Evidence for Migration Analysis and Policy (REMAP) project activities in Uzbekistan. This position requires close coordination with various stakeholders, including the Chief of Mission, Senior Data and Research Assistant, and the Senior Regional Project Manager in Berlin. The Project Assistant will be responsible for planning and executing project activities, ensuring that project indicators are met while addressing cross-cutting issues and ensuring the collection of disaggregated data. The role also involves analyzing and visualizing data, translating reports, and maintaining high-quality standards in data reporting. The Project Assistant will assist in developing assessment tools, organizing stakeholder sessions, and ensuring compliance with IOM's Data Protection Principles. This position is vital for the successful implementation of migration-related projects and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the timely planning and implementation of the MTM REMAP project activities in Uzbekistan, ensuring project indicators are achieved.
  • Support the analysis and visualization of MTM data in English, Russian, and Uzbek, providing statistical information as needed.
  • Translate reports accurately between English, Russian, and Uzbek, ensuring the use of appropriate terminology.
  • Maintain a high volume of output for translations while meeting tight deadlines and ensuring quality.
  • Assist in developing MTM assessment tools and training field teams as necessary.
  • Organize briefing and debriefing sessions with stakeholders to monitor data collection issues and propose adjustments.
  • Liaise with state partners and local stakeholders to address field access issues.
  • Undertake field visits to support project implementation and monitor progress.
  • Ensure compliance with IOM’s Data Protection Principles and relevant policies. 1
  • Support sub-regional data and research activities in Central Asia as needed. 1
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Humanitarian, Political or Social Science, Data Management, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a High School Diploma in the aforementioned fields with five years of relevant working experience is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in statistical tools, reporting, and liaising with government authorities, preferably within the international humanitarian field. Experience in migration issues, project development, and resource mobilization is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree or diploma in relevant fields such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Humanitarian, Political or Social Science, Data Management, or Statistics. Candidates with a High School Diploma in these fields must have a minimum of five years of relevant working experience. The educational qualifications must be from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the necessary disciplines to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in statistical tools, reporting, and liaising with government authorities, ideally within the international humanitarian sector. Experience in migration issues, including operational and field experience, project development, project management, and resource mobilization is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is an advantage, as is proficiency in creating and editing documents using Adobe InDesign.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Uzbek, and Russian (both oral and written) is required for this position. Working knowledge of other Central Asian languages is desirable, as it may enhance communication and collaboration with local stakeholders. The proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the language requirements effectively.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Uzbekistan will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary government authorizations. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
