Job Overview: The Communication and Partnerships Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and outreach of UNDP's initiatives in Jordan. This position involves developing and implementing communication strategies that align with UNDP's mission and objectives. The coordinator will be responsible for fostering partnerships with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector. The role requires a deep understanding of communication principles and practices, as well as the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences. The coordinator will also be tasked with creating content for various platforms, managing social media channels, and organizing events to promote UNDP's work. This position is expected to contribute significantly to the overall communication efforts of UNDP in Jordan, ensuring that the organization's messages are clear, impactful, and resonate with the target audience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote UNDP's initiatives and projects in Jordan.
Create engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and reports.
Manage UNDP's social media presence, ensuring timely updates and interactions with followers.
Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and seminars to enhance stakeholder engagement and visibility.
Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations to foster collaboration and support for UNDP's goals.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust them as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Provide training and support to UNDP staff on communication best practices and tools.
Prepare reports and presentations on communication activities and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in communication, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an international organization or development context.
Strong understanding of communication principles, strategies, and tools.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content for diverse audiences.
Experience in managing social media platforms and creating engaging online content.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Knowledge of the development sector and UNDP's mission and objectives is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communication, public relations, or a related field. Experience working in an international organization or development context is preferred, as it provides valuable insights into the unique challenges and opportunities in this sector.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus and may be beneficial in engaging with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role for a period of 8 months. The selected candidate will be expected to work full-time and may be required to travel within Jordan as necessary. The contract duration may be subject to extension based on performance and project needs. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
