The organization operates in 26 countries and employs a total of 3,200 staff, including expatriates, national employees, and volunteers. SI has been active in Burkina Faso since 2018, primarily in the Northern, Central Northern, Boucle du Mouhoun, and Sahel regions, providing responses in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and emergency shelter. SI has established five operational bases in Burkina Faso and has a significant budget for its programs, which include cash transfer interventions and a multisectoral response to urgent needs.

Job Overview:
The Grants Manager position is crucial for the mission in Burkina Faso and Mali, based in Ouagadougou with potential travel to Mali. The role involves monitoring and analyzing funding opportunities, managing project contracts, and developing project proposals for secondary donors. The Grants Manager will also oversee a Reporting & Communication Officer responsible for report preparation and communication. The position requires a proactive approach to meet the challenges posed by the recent merger of the Burkina Faso and Mali missions, particularly in fundraising efforts. In the first two to three months, the Grants Manager will focus on identifying funding opportunities in both countries, contributing to ongoing and upcoming project proposals, and ensuring the timely submission of final reports, especially for ECHO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Monitor and analyze funding opportunities in Burkina Faso and Mali.
  • Manage project contracts and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
  • Develop and write project proposals for secondary donors.
  • Supervise the Reporting & Communication Officer and ensure the quality of reports and communication materials.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather necessary information for proposals and reports.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to donors, particularly ECHO.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes related to grants management.
  • Provide training and support to staff on grants management and reporting processes.
  • Maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders to enhance funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (BAC+4) in international relations, development and humanitarian action, political science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the humanitarian sector.
  • Proven experience in grant management and knowledge of various donors.
  • Strong skills in proposal writing and project development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage stress effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (BAC+4) in relevant fields such as international relations, humanitarian action, or political science. Equivalent experience in the humanitarian sector may also be considered.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in grants management or a similar role. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of the challenges and requirements associated with funding in humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.

Additional Notes:
This is a short-term contract position with a duration of 6 months, renewable based on performance and funding availability. The position is full-time and based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, with potential travel to Mali. The salary starts at EUR 2,310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 55
  • Solidarity International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. Expatriates are entitled to a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued monthly. Comprehensive health insurance is provided, covering medical expenses, dental and optical care, and repatriation. The living conditions in Ouagadougou are described as pleasant, with a vibrant cultural scene and good access to communication services.
