Job Overview: The Support Lead for the Infrastructure Component of the STaR Project in Nigeria plays a crucial role in facilitating the achievement of project objectives. This position involves coordinating and reporting on all activities related to the Productive and Social Infrastructure component of the project. The Support Lead will provide technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partners, ensuring that CRS's work effectively serves the poor and vulnerable populations. The role requires strong coordination and relationship management skills to ensure that the STaR project applies best practices and continuously improves its impact. The Support Lead will be responsible for monitoring project activities, assisting partners in reflecting on project experiences, and ensuring effective communication with local stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Support Lead include supporting and coordinating all Infrastructure/ESHS assigned activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan, monitoring and reporting challenges or gaps, assisting partners in project reflection, and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders. The Support Lead will supervise and perform inspections at project sites, ensure proper tracking of resource use, produce technical designs and budgets for infrastructure projects, and oversee the training of Cash-for-Work beneficiaries. Additionally, the role involves coordinating project evaluation activities, collecting and analyzing project data, and preparing reports in collaboration with local partners. The Support Lead will also be responsible for documenting project activities and identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support, particularly in Construction or Infrastructure management, and experience in developing and implementing infrastructure projects for development organizations or NGOs. Registration with professional regulatory bodies in engineering, construction, or architecture is an advantage. Candidates should possess strong relationship management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree is required for this position, with a preference for degrees in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management. Additional experience may substitute for some educational requirements, and being registered with relevant professional bodies is considered beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project support, ideally within the field of Construction or Infrastructure management. Experience in developing and implementing infrastructure or community projects for development organizations or NGOs is essential. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education qualifications.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, with Hausa being a preferred language. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication with local stakeholders and project beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: The position requires a willingness to travel up to 75% to field locations in Adamawa state.
