Job Overview:
The Associate position within the Global Malaria Team at CHAI is designed for a highly motivated individual who will assist governments across Francophone Africa in utilizing advanced planning techniques, such as data-driven decision-making, to significantly reduce malaria cases and deaths. The role requires a passion for solving complex problems and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment. The Associate will support various levels of government in developing national strategic plans for malaria, optimizing financial and programmatic data for decision-making, and improving program management. This position involves collaboration with CHAI Country Teams and Regional Technical Teams, focusing on countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone, with potential support for Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and DRC. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, and must be able to work independently while demonstrating a commitment to achieving results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: facilitating evidence-based program reviews and strategic planning; assisting malaria programs in overcoming funding absorption and implementation challenges; strengthening the use of financial and programmatic data for informed decision-making; developing Excel-based budget and cost models for malaria interventions; conducting analyses to align available funding with needs and identify resource gaps; creating funding proposals to mobilize resources from entities like the Global Fund; collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize activities within funding constraints; building strong relationships with government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders; facilitating coordination among various partners; sharing updates and best practices; traveling to remote areas with limited infrastructure; and performing other related responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications for this position include: professional-level fluency in both French and English (verbal and written); a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Policy, Public Health, International Development, or a related field; at least 2 years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibility in management consulting, public health financing, or a similar area; high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; the ability to manage multiple work streams and set priorities independently; exceptional written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills for building relationships in a multicultural environment; and a willingness to travel frequently (30-50% of the time) within Africa, including potential rural trips.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Policy, Public Health, International Development, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in one of these areas is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership in relevant fields such as management consulting or public health financing. Experience working with government officials, multilateral organizations, or development donors is highly valued, as is familiarity with resource-limited settings, particularly in Africa.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in these languages is essential for collaboration with stakeholders across Francophone Africa. Additional language skills may be considered advantageous but are not required.

This position is full-time and may involve significant travel within Africa, with an emphasis on rural areas.
