Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the National Planning Commission (NPC) and the National Nutrition and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security Secretariat (NNFSS) in the implementation of the Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP) and Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement-related tasks. This position involves assisting various stakeholders, including the Hon’ble Member overseeing the Health and Nutrition Portfolio, in organizing meetings for Multi-Sectoral Platforms and supporting the collection of data and information from sectoral ministries and stakeholders. The consultant will also be responsible for documenting MSNP progress and SUN-related reporting, updating the Nepal Nutrition and Food Security Portal, and ensuring effective communication and coordination among various parties involved in nutrition initiatives. The consultant's work will be vital in achieving the ambitious goals of MSNP-III and ensuring the successful implementation of nutrition programs in Nepal.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include drafting meeting agendas, letters, minutes, and reports for various committees and working groups, organizing meetings with sectoral ministries and stakeholders, and assisting in day-to-day health and nutrition-related tasks. The consultant will support the SUN Government Focal Point in organizing meetings with relevant stakeholders, document discussions and outcomes, and prepare periodic progress reports focusing on Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) of EU budget support. Additionally, the consultant will assist in capacity-building activities, documentation, reporting, and logistics related to MSNP, and will be responsible for compiling information related to nutrition initiatives and sharing it with stakeholders. The consultant will also support the annual review of MSNP and contribute to the finalization of the annual progress report.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health, nutrition, agriculture/livestock, food technology, health education, social science, or related fields. A minimum of three years of professional experience in health/nutrition or multisectoral nutrition-related programs/projects is required, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with government agencies and multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), is essential. Fluency in both English and Nepali is mandatory, as effective communication is crucial for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as public health, nutrition, agriculture/livestock, food technology, health education, or social science. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of nutrition programs and effectively contributing to the implementation of the Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in health/nutrition or multisectoral nutrition-related programs/projects. This experience should ideally include work with government or non-governmental organizations, as well as UN-supported projects. Prior experience in planning and programming, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Nepali is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders, documentation, and reporting. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
