Job Overview:
The Information Technology Assistant plays a crucial role in coordinating and performing a comprehensive range of IT support functions within the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand. This position is essential for ensuring the quality, transparency, and consistency of IT service delivery, adhering to established IT procedures and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The incumbent will report to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Officer and will be responsible for independently managing work priorities, making decisions on IT-related issues, and providing support to users at all levels. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality IT services that align with the organization's strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Technology Assistant will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including: receiving and logging all IT service requests in the Service Desk System; providing first and second-level support for users to resolve issues related to computer applications, hardware, software, and peripherals; acting as a liaison between users and the IT Division for complex issues; assisting with web publishing and media production tasks; deploying and configuring hardware and software; ensuring user access to corporate IT infrastructure; operating and troubleshooting office equipment; providing user guidance and training; advising staff on IT hardware and software selection; assisting in the planning and procurement of IT equipment; managing the office pool of IT equipment and supplies; processing separation clearance; and performing other duties as required. The incumbent will also play a lead role in the overall provision of FAO information technology services, contributing to the successful achievement of the organizational unit's mandate.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary school education and a minimum of four years of relevant experience in IT support work. They should have a working knowledge of English at proficiency level C and demonstrate strong IT skills, including a very good knowledge of Microsoft 365, systems installation and configuration, and office technology equipment. Additionally, candidates should have experience in networking and IT equipment support, as well as a basic understanding of UNDSS-IT Security Awareness or equivalent. Holding at least the MD-100 exam of the Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate certification is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a secondary school education. This foundational level of education is essential for understanding the technical aspects of IT support and for effectively performing the duties associated with the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in IT support work. This experience should encompass a range of IT support functions, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues effectively.
