Job Overview:
The Logistics Department Director will play a pivotal role in consolidating the logistics operations of Action Against Hunger in Haiti. This position is responsible for overseeing all logistics-related activities, including purchasing, fleet management, real estate management, and warehousing. The Director will report directly to the Country Director and will be tasked with developing and implementing logistics strategies that align with the organization's mission. The role requires a dynamic professional with extensive experience in humanitarian logistics and procurement management, particularly in crisis or conflict zones. The Director will also provide technical support and guidance to logistics teams and stakeholders, ensuring that logistics operations are efficient and effective in supporting program delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Department Director will be responsible for the strategic management of all logistics aspects of the mission. Key duties include:
  • Developing and maintaining an up-to-date logistics strategy for the national office.
  • Overseeing the management of all warehouses and implementing best practices for stock movement tracking.
  • Leading the development and implementation of logistics policies and procedures.
  • Participating in program development to ensure logistics priorities are integrated into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design.
  • Leading the creation and execution of annual logistics plans, covering procurement, fleet management, IT, facilities management, and security.
  • Ensuring logistics data is accessible to other departments to support national strategy development.
  • Collaborating with HR to attract and develop a high-performing logistics team.
  • Coordinating staff capacity development and performance management processes.
  • Promoting performance management through clear objective setting and constructive feedback.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of both French and English, as these are the working languages in Haiti. A good command of Creole is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have an advanced university degree in logistics, business, or a related field, with professional qualifications in logistics management preferred. A minimum of five years of senior professional experience in a similar role, preferably at an international level, is required. Candidates should also have extensive experience in developing and implementing logistics and security strategies, as well as managing complex logistics operations involving multiple projects and diverse teams.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in logistics, business, or a related field is required for this position. Professional qualifications in logistics management are preferred, indicating a strong foundation in the principles and practices of logistics and supply chain management.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of senior professional experience in logistics management, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience in crisis or conflict zones is highly desirable, as is a proven track record in managing complex logistics operations that involve multiple projects, sites, budgets, and teams.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the primary working languages in Haiti. A good understanding of Creole is considered advantageous, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
